About Us
With the South African Defence industry being male dominated, there is a dire need to encourage more women to not only join the defence industry but to also motivate them to remain in the industry and become Leaders in the industry.
Africa still having a lot of war-torn zones, more and more women and children being the worst affected as victims in war torn zones, there is a need for African women to take a stand and lend a helping hand.
SAWID
The South African Women in Defence (SAWiD) was established in 2016 to represent, support, empower and advance women’s interests in the defence industry making a significant meaningful impact beyond the borders of South Africa. SAWiD is supported by the South African Aerospace Maritime Defence Industries Association (AMD) to further advance the representation of women to become leaders in the industry.

Humanitarian aid to victims of war in Africa.
Direct – providing aid from the SAWID trust.
